“wine-barrel” taiko

North American style of making drums, using actual oak wine-barrels and gluing the staves together to form the do for nagadō-daiko; many North American professional taiko makers now use a similar construction technique, but buy wood blanks of ash or hickory and plane down their own staves for better acoustics and quality control
